About Raymond Grote

- Recent Cruise in the Bahamas
For the first four or five years of my career, I have had the wonderful experience of gaining a deep understanding of community banking and small business while getting to coach my brothers, purchase a home, and basically have everything I’ve ever truly wanted before I turned 25. The economic debacle has caused me to rethink a number of choices so far, and I’ve come to the realization that it’s time for me to begin my next great challenge. I’ve recently completed my first half marathon, and now I’ll be making some more big changes, which will probably include a new job and possibly a change of scenery. I’m also starting up this website, www.frontlinefinancials.com, with the hopes that I can share my passion and knowledge of finance and banking.
If you’re wondering about more “resume” type things, here’s a quick rundown:
I graduated with honors from Mercer University with a BBA. At school I studied Economics, Finance, and Spanish. I had the nice honor of being named “Best Economics Major” right before I graduated. I’m an avid reader of pretty much anything that has to do with finance and banking, often spending four or more hours a day just reading business articles, reports, and other literature.
While working for my current bank, I have simultaneously held the positions of Assistant to the President and Systems and Procedures Manager, and I was recently promoted to Vice President. I have been involved in nearly every aspect of deposits, loans, compliance, marketing, accounting, and operations in my tenure here. My job has afforded me the opportunity of not only learning a great deal about how my business works, but also meeting and interacting with a lot of high-level bankers, lawyers, regulators, and politicians. It has also, somewhat sadly, afforded me the opportunity to see a great deal of “how not to do it.” These experiences have provided me a wealth of cases from which to draw the more general conclusions I reach in the articles. If you want to know more, feel free to ask. I’ll shoot my resume right over. In the meantime- I hope you enjoy the posts!
